Learn About Me
Joanne Hudspith - Yoga Therapist
I know how easy it is to let pain become the story that defines me.
I started practicing yoga in the 1990’s and became fascinated by the effects the practice had on my physical, mental and emotional well-being; I’ve been following my curiosities about this mind-body connection ever since. I began teaching yoga classes in 2005 and I have continued to be a committed teacher and learner throughout my career. Over the years my personal practice and teaching evolved to a more therapeutic approach, leading me to earn my certification as a yoga therapist in 2014. My teaching is informed by my ongoing study of anatomy and physiology along with the different approaches to movement that I have learned and practiced over the years. I am enjoying the experience of getting older and better as I continue to be a curious mover through my 50’s.
As well as having suffered some of the aches and pains that go along with being an aging human, I am a breast cancer survivor. I have first-hand experience with the challenges of chronic pain, and have compassion and empathy for those on the healing journey. When not teaching or moving, I can be found writing, reading, knitting or trying a new recipe.
